WAR is Everywhere

September 18, 2008

Welcome to the Day of Reckoning. Mythic officially flicked the switch this morning opening up Warhammer Online to all those that couldn’t be bothered pre-ordering.

It was announced earlier that 1.5 million copies had been sold to retailers worldwide. We should soon see how that translates into actual subscribers. But to put things into perspective, it took World of Warcraft 6 months to reach 2 million subscribers.

Servers have held up very well this week. 4 of the most popular servers filled up quickly but Mythic is currently cloning those today.

On Ulthuan I experienced short 15minute queues on the night of the standard edition Head Start. But other than that, absolutly no issues. Though I am still cautiously holding my breath knowing that the official Penny-Arcade destruction guild, The Six Mouths, has rolled on this server. They have the potential to bring down any server they join.

I’m having a great time with this game. The Public Quests are engaging. The rewards keep you wanting to play just a little more. And the RvR is incredibly fun even for those of us who typically hate PvP.
