The Royal Victoria Marathon is less than 3 weeks away and I just peaked in my training routine with a 32km run yesterday. While I had ambitions of running this marathon significantly faster than my first, I doubt I’ll be able to shave off much time.
The brutal reality is that training for a marathon takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time (yes – every single adjective in that sentence was required). In order for me to really improve I’d have to be willing to run for more than 6 hours a week. I’m horrible at cheating on my training schedules and most certainly this is causing my poor marathon performance. All I can manage is 3 runs a week with 10-14km on Tues/Thurs and 18-32km on Sundays. Perhaps I’d be better off sticking to half-marathons and just working on my speed.
Anyways – Victoria marathon… 3 weeks away. Should be fun.
Also… some races I did over the summer that I didn’t talk about here.
June – Longest Day Road Race 10km – 50:21
June – Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon – 1:48:12 (an amazing personal-best)
July – Billy Barker Days Fun Run 12.6km – 1:03:xx
