Melinda and I waited until New Years Day morning to exchange Christmas gifts. We were apart on Christmas, back home at our respective families. Melinda got me a whole pile of awesome Kidrobot toys and at the bottom of one of the bags was a small box. In this small box was a ring and with this ring Melinda asked me to marry her. I cried – a lot. I tried to say “yes” a few times but it didn’t seem to be coming out over the tears. After a few minutes I was able to compose myself and we were engaged.
The ring is beautiful. White gold / palladium with a white sapphire. Melinda had found an artisan in Porland via Etsy. All of the metals are recycled with the palladium originating from old computer parts (a nice geeky touch).
We called our families and they are all excited. No immediate plans or date, but I’m sure we’ll sort that out eventually. For now, I’m just going to revel in this amazing start to 2010.

Wow! Congratulations to you both. Come to think of it, a ring made with recycled computer parts is just plain awesome.
Congrats again.
