Interesting Experiment…

March 21, 2010

On Saturday morning I decided to upload GDC Simulator 2010 to Kongregate. I figured – Why not! What was interesting was the reaction to it.

Comments were scything. Clearly nobody got the joke. :) The game was averaging 1.63 stars last I checked. But… it was played over 1000 times in a 24hr period.

This was shocking to me as my other Kongregate title, Echo Explorer, only managed to hit 640 plays before the tail fully dropped off. Echo Explorer was clearly a superior game, having taken me a full weekend to put together. Its averaging rating is 2.65 stars on Kongregate with relatively benign comments. But here was GDC Simulator 2010, a game that I made over 3hrs on a flight with its 1.63 star rating getting far more plays. Hilarious.

Thank you Echo Explorer for making me $1.55 in ad revenue. But a big thank you to GDC Simulator 2010 for almost bringing me to $4 total revenue on Kongregate. Melinda says, don’t quit my day job. :(
