LD48 – Done!

April 23, 2010

Ludum Dare #17 is over! This was my live-blog.

I’ve created my base framework in FlashBuilder / Flixel and am ready to go.

Download Initial Code-base Source

[2HRS in] – Initial prototype created. Theme: “Islands”

I’ll be making a side-scroller, “chase” game on floating platforms.

[4.5HRS in] – Friday Complete

Not a bad first evening start. Arrow keys move. X jumps. Hold the UP key if you fall over.

[8 HRS in] – Saturday Morning Update

Got my pixel pushing action on this morning and made some MegaMan-esque tiles.

[13 HRS in] – Saturday Evening Update

Did more pixel pushing this afternoon, added some music and SFX and even the intro text. The enemies now fly in via rockets ’cause roller derby girls riding rockets is just plain awesome.

[16 HRS in] – Saturday Over Update

Improved the roller-girl sprites, added scoring logic and tweaked gameplay a bit. It’s 1:21AM on Sunday so it’s time for bed. :) I figure I’ll get a final 7 hours of development in tomorrow.

[22 HRS in] – Done.

Calling it over about 4hrs before the deadline. Quite pleased with my end result! I had lots of fun this weekend and felt far less pressure than last time.
