Adventures in FGL

December 28, 2010

I’ve uploaded my first game to Flash Game License. It’s a complete rewrite of my Ludum Dare #17 entry. I had the pleasure of working with the exceptionally talented Paul Veer and equally awesome Amon26 on this new version. Paul re-did all of the game graphics and really put a beautiful polish on the game’s visual asthetic. Amon26 wrote a couple of music tracks that fit the game perfectly and always get stuck in my head. Personally I spent a lot of time redoing all of the code, vastly improving the controls and adding a lot more depth than was available in the original competition entry. It’s amazing to see how far the game has come from that initial 48hr prototype I did back in April.

I think we’ve crafted a very fun, pick-up and play arcadey game that many folks will enjoy.

The game opened for bidding yesterday. Wish us luck!

The theme: Discovery. Tonight I had my roller-derby written test followed by practice so I was unable to spend much time on LD. But I was thinking of theme ideas throughout the evening. I’m thinking of playing on a theme of Self-Discovery as the user moves through the stages of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs battling personal demons [...]

A couple of weeks ago a friend from San Francisco posted a tweet suggesting a “Glitch” Hipstamatic pack would be awesome. I agreed with him! But I decided to play with a few iPhone apps to see what I could create with the idea of Glitchy visual effects. The apps I settled on were: Hipstamatic, [...]

Productivity

December 3, 2010

I’ve been fretting about my productivity a lot these days. Even as I type this post while on a bus to roller-derby practice I have a sense of loss over everything I could have produced with my waking hours today, this week, this month, this year. I just don’t think I’m remotely as productive as [...]
