Snow Crash – Unplugged

June 9, 2014

Last Fall, after a 3 year career, I retired from roller-derby and the Terminal City Roller Girls. It was a great run and I’m incredible proud of everything I accomplished as a skater, as a leader on the track, and a leader in the league.

My alumni page is here:

Below are some of my favourite photos taken by the talented Bob Ayers and Nicolas Charest.

I continue to help Melinda run and coach Raw Meat Vancouver, so roller-derby hasn’t completely left my system.

Why did you stop skating, Kayla? Injury? Other priorities?

I was looking forward to coming to see you again, now we have a toddler who would just love watching :-)

I was just done. Roller derby is one of those things that completely consumes your life. I was done with the excessive time commitment. I looked at the goals I had accomplished and how much time would be needed to accomplish next-level goals in the sport and decided I just didn’t want to spend that time.

Very happy for the experience and very proud of what I accomplished.
