Well I’m back from a lovely week-long vacation in DisneyLand. The weather was excellent in Anaheim and we all had a very good time.
But now it’s back to work!
Ludum Dare #17
Results came in on Sunday night. Roller-Derby 20XX came in 31st out of 204 entries (132 discreet positions) which places me in the top 25%. My best categories were Audio and Fun. I’m most pleased about placing 10th overall in Fun (top 8% in this category) scoring 3.73/5. I scored a 1.94/5 in the Theme category which isn’t surprising.
Compare this to EchoExplorer (my LD16 entry) which achieved 31st overall (top 35%) and scored only 2.47/5 in the fun department.
So I’m quite pleased overall! I’m clearly improving in my game development skills which is kind of the whole point of these competitions.
BMO Vancouver (Half) Marathon
I surprised myself and had a strong run on May 2nd. Unfortunately the race itself was very poorly organized and I was embarrassed of how this race showcased our city. I ran the half in 1:53:46. Not my fastest time, but definitely faster than I was expecting for this race. I’ll be speed training with the goal of running the Scotia Vancouver Half-Marathon in June sub 1:50.
Roller Skating
I haven’t been on roller skates in 2 weeks.
But now that my race and vacation are over I’ll be back at it! I’m heading to the seawall tonight. Melinda is starting her rollerskating lessons tonight as well. This Saturday we are both volunteering at the Terminal City Rollergirls bout which should be a lot of fun!
iPad
Oh yeah – and I bought an iPad WiFi 32GB while in Anaheim.
It’s awesome.
